The Pope Video of September
On the occasion of the beginning of the Season of Creation, the Pontiff has chosen to address once again the environmental crisis facing humanity.
“Young people have the courage to undertake projects for environmental and social improvement,” the Pope affirms and calls to challenge the way we live and use the material goods of the planet, “often harmful to the Earth.”
For this reason, he calls us to move “towards lifestyles that are simpler and more respectful of the environment”, in order to combat the environmental and social crisis and the triple threat, according to the UN, which threatens us: the loss of biodiversity, climate change and increased pollution.
Francis has already warned in Laudato Si’: “It would hardly be helpful to describe symptoms without acknowledging the human origins of the ecological crisis” (LS 101). That is why it is urgent to reflect on the lifestyle we lead, to see to what extent our actions harm the planet.
Above all, the Pope mentions “the way we eat, consume, travel or the way we use water, energy, plastics”. And he invites us: “Let us choose to change”, especially looking at young people, who are “at the forefront” of these issues, and whom adults should imitate.

As in past years, when Francis’ intentions addressed the oceans (2019) and the Earth’s resources (2020), the September edition of the Pope Video is part of the annual global, ecumenical celebration of the Season of Creation.
The video features the collaboration of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development and Laudato Si’ Movement. The video was directed by Nicolas Brown (three-time Emmy Award winner) and co-produced for the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network by Vatican Media, Off the Fence Productions and La Machi Communication for Good Causes.
