
2025 promises to be an “annus mirabilis” in the life of the Church. With a global Jubilee, the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’ and of Laudato Si’ Movement, the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures, and a momentous UN conference on climate change, this is a year for change.
Without doubt, 2025 will be a grand adventure. Join us for these key moments along the journey.
Throughout the year
An online space sponsored by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development will lift up the efforts to protect creation of Catholic organizations around the world.
January
- 25: Prayer vigil for the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’. Join us in an online vigil to celebrate 10 years of the Laudato Si’ encyclical and to honor the role of contemplation in caring for our common home.
- Week of 27 January: Contemplation training. Deepen your contemplative practice with an online training offered in English and in Spanish.
- Date to be determined: Launch of the theme for the Season of Creation. Watch for a proposed theme to guide your celebration of the Season of Creation later this year.
March
- 5 March to 17 April: Lent. Rethink harmful ways of living with creation and commit to healing our relationships with our Creator and each other.
- 8 to 9 March: Jubilee of volunteering. Watch for social media posts to connect the essential work of volunteers like Laudato Si’ Movement members with care for our common home.
April
- 20 April: Easter. Celebrate new life in Christ and new hope for our common home.
- Week of 28 April: Laudato Si’ Animator training begins. Join tens of thousands of grassroots champions from around the world by enrolling in an online training course to become a Laudato Si’ Animator.
May
- 23 May: TotalEnergies annual general meeting. Support Laudato Si’ Movement leaders and partners in encouraging TotalEnergies, the French oil giant, to pull back from its disastrous EACOP oil pipeline in East Africa.
- 24 May: 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’. Celebrate the anniversary of Pope Francis signing Laudato Si’, the encyclical on climate change and our common home that stands on millennia of Catholic teaching about creation.
- 24-31 May: Laudato Si’ Week. Unite with people around the world to celebrate Laudato Si’ Week.
- Date to be determined: ELSiA reflection day. Explore the status of ecological action in Europe with the European Laudato Si’ Alliance, a network of Catholic organisations working to bring Laudato Si’ to life.
June
- 3-7 June: Pilgrimage to Assisi. Join members of Laudato Si’ Movement in a pilgrimage to the home of St. Francis, celebrating the anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures and committing to transformative action.
- 7-8 June: Pentecost. Rejoice in the mystery of the Holy Spirit, who connects us with all.
- 7-8 June: Jubilee of ecclesial movements, associations, and new communities. Watch for social media posts to connect the life of movements like ours with care for our common home.
- 20-22 June: Jubilee of governments. Watch for social media posts to encourage governments to care for our common home.
July
- 19 July: Global encounter. Local and national encounters have prepared the way for a global encounter, celebrating our movement’s history and envisioning what we could become. Take the first steps into Laudato Si’ Movement’s future by joining this online global event.
- 28 July -3 August: Jubilee of youth. Watch for social media posts to celebrate how young people care for our common home.
September
- 1 September: Feast of Creation and opening prayer service for the Season of Creation. Celebrate the Feast of Creation and join Christians around the world to open the Season of Creation.
- 1 September-4 October: Season of Creation. Mark the Season of Creation, the annual celebration of prayer and action for our common home, with an activity in your parish, school, or community.
- 5 September: Amazon Day. Ahead of the UN climate summit in Brazil, celebrate this day of action for the Amazon.
- 20 September: Jubilee of justice. Watch for social media posts to encourage greater justice for all who share our common home.
- Date to be determined: Africa climate summit. Pray and join in online events to promote climate solutions on the world’s youngest and fastest growing continent.
October
- 4 October: Feast of St. Francis and closing prayer service for the Season of Creation. Honor the life of St. Francis and remember a season of growth together by joining in a closing prayer service for the Season of Creation.
- 5 October: Jubilee of migrants. Watch for social media posts to celebrate the strength of migrants and to explore forced migration on a changing planet.
November
- 10-21 November: COP30. Pray for the work of leaders from Laudato Si’ Movement and partners at COP30, the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Taking place in Brazil, the world’s most populous Catholic country, this conference needs to succeed in order to turn the arc of greenhouse gas emissions downward in time to protect creation.
- 16 November: Jubilee of the poor. Watch for social media posts to connect the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors with the climate crisis.
- 30 November-24 December: Advent. Wait in hope for the coming of Christ to creation.
- Date to be determined: Annual report of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. Celebrate a year of concrete action from Catholic institutions and communities in the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
December
- 25 December: Christmas. Rejoice! Christ is born.
