Once again, we come together as a global family to start preparing for the Season of Creation 2025—a time of deep prayer, action, and advocacy to care for our common home. From September 1, the World Day of Prayer for Creation, to October 4, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, we will unite in hope and commitment to restore peace with Creation.
2025 Theme: Peace with Creation
This year, the theme is Peace with Creation, rooted in Isaiah 32:14-18:
14 Because the palaces will be forsaken,
The bustling city will be deserted.
The forts and towers will become lairs forever,
A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks—
15 Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.
16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,
And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
17 The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness,
quietness and assurance forever.
18 My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,
In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
Isaiah paints a stark image of a world wounded by human injustice, a creation crying out for peace. This vision resonates deeply with us: our planet is suffering, and yet, we believe in the promise of renewal and restoration.
Our call is to be active agents of change—praying, acting, and transforming our way of living in communion with creation and the Creator.
As Pope Francis reminded us during the Jubilee of Volunteering: “In the deserts of poverty and loneliness, all those small gestures are helping to make a new humanity blossom in the garden that is God’s dream, always and everywhere, for all of us.” This Season of Creation, let us walk together in metanoia (repentance), to build peace, to restore our relationships, and to help God’s creation blossom.
You can find an in-depth theological explanation about this year’s theme here.

The Symbol: The Garden of Peace
The symbol for 2025, the Garden of Peace, features a dove carrying an olive branch. Just as Noah’s dove returned with a sign of renewal after the flood (Genesis 6:13), we too seek a world where peace flourishes as we reach out to each other and connect with all creation. We invite you to incorporate the symbol in all the activities, celebrations and events that you plan for this year.
Advocacy Focus: Debt Relief for Climate Justice
This year, the ecumenical Steering Committee has decided that the global ecumenical call to action for the season is debt relief, in tune with the Pope’s call for this year’s jubilee (Spes Non Confundit n.16) and a way for us as Catholics to give even more fruits for the Raising Hope campaign.
We know that there is no peace without right relationships. Today, some of the world’s most vulnerable nations—those suffering the worst effects of climate change—are burdened by crippling debt, which prevents them from preparing for stronger storms, rising seas, and growing deserts. At the same time, many of these nations have provided the natural resources that developed countries used to grow their economies.
To make these relationships right, debt must be forgiven.
This Season of Creation, we raise our voices to demand debt relief so that these nations can invest in climate resilience and community development. Will you stand with us?
