This week we experienced a profoundly hopeful moment: the Laudato Si’ Movement was awarded the Laudato Si’ 2025 Prize by the Order of Friars Minor (OFM). This recognition was presented to us in an emotional ceremony in the presence of key figures in the defense of ecological justice, such as the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, the theologian Leonardo Boff and representatives of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM)..
Receiving this award on the tenth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si’ is not only a source of joy, but also of immense and moving gratitude. A gratitude that comes from the heart and is addressed, first and foremost, to you, to every person who is part of the Laudato Si’ Movement. Because it is your dedication, your faith in daily life, and your firm commitment to the care of our common home that makes this mission a reality. This recognition is truly a reflection of the love and hope that you inspire in the world.

An award that inspires us… and reminds us of our why…
During the ceremony, our Executive Director, Lorna Gold, received the award on behalf of the entire Laudato Si’ Movement community. In her words, a clear call echoed:
“We are at an ecological tipping point that has become a true crisis of conscience. As people of faith, we must come together to turn this dark moment into a Kairos, a time of divine opportunity.”
This award honors much more than a track record — it celebrates a conviction shared by thousands of people who, from every corner of the planet, live out integral ecology with hope, courage, and commitment. This recognition is also a reminder: the time to act with determination and hope is now
Every story matters
From those who coordinate global campaigns to those planting gardens in their parishes; from participants in our training programs to those who pray silently each morning for creation; from volunteers, allies, and donors to the staff and spiritual leadership:
Thank you. Thank you for believing. Thank you for acting. Thank you for walking with us.
Where do we go from here?
Like Laudato Si’ itself, our movement continues. We will keep following the Holy Spirit on this journey.
- Using prayer resources for contemplation and inspiration
- Organizing local events for moments like the Season of Creation
- Leaving banks that support fossil fuels
- Preparing to stand together at COP30
This anniversary is not just a time to celebrate. It is an opportunity to renew our commitment to God, to the most vulnerable and to the Earth we inhabit.
