From October 1 to 3, the “Raising Hope” Conference will bring together leaders from the circles of faith, science, and politics to spark a global and spiritual response to the ecological crisis. Participate online: an open invitation to listen, learn, and take action from anywhere on the planet.

This blog features five of the more than 25 panelists—spiritual leaders, scientists, members of indigenous communities, and activists from around the world—to begin to allow their wisdom to inspire us as we prepare to attentively listen to them in October.

Five high-level panelists to add to your calendar

Just as we have already introduced five other panelists, today we continue and present the next five leaders as a small sample of the calibre and diversity of voices that will be present. They are listed in no particular order, but they all share a deep motivation to raise their voices in defense of our common home:

  • Yeb Saño

President of the Board of Directors of the Laudato Si’ Movement, member of the Board of Directors of 350.org, former Executive Director of Greenpeace Southeast Asia, and chief climate negotiator for the Philippines. Saño has been an international figure since his powerful speech following Typhoon Haiyan and personifies being present to vulnerability.

  • Honorable Marina Silva

Current Minister of the Environment and Climate Change of Brazil. She combines public leadership with a life dedicated to defending the Amazon: the Goldman Prize, international appointments, and the joint presidency of COP30 place her in a key position to bring together policy, ethics, and the protection of territories. Her voice carries particular weight in the face of recent legislative setbacks in Brazil.

  • Dr. Iyad Abu Moghli

Founder and Director of the Faith for Earth Initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Abu Moghli represents the alliance between faith and the global agenda. He works to mobilize religious communities as actors in conservation, education, and advocacy for sustainable policies.

  • Mons. Martin Hayes

Bishop of Kilmore and Episcopal Coordinator of Laudato Si’ for the Irish Episcopal Conference, Mons. Martin connects pastoral work with the school of life proposed by the encyclical. He works in dialogue with rural communities and participates in international summits, contributing the perspective of a Church that accompanies the ecological transition with vocational sensitivity and support for local initiatives.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger

Founder of the Schwarzenegger Institute (USC), promoter of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, and creator of the Austrian World Summit, Schwarzenegger has worked for decades in public policy, state-level commitments, and media platforms that translate the climate emergency into concrete solutions and cross-sector alliances.
