What is the Creation Care Prayer Network?

The Creation Care Prayer Network brings together individuals and communities who commit to praying for the healing of our common home, united by shared intentions.

What does the prayer network do?

The network brings people together in prayer for creation and for all creatures most affected by the ecological crisis, walking together in ecological conversion and sustaining care for our common home.

Who will coordinate this network?

The Creation Care Prayer Network is an initiative of the Laudato Si’ Movement, which coordinates the network in collaboration with key partners.

How will the network unite in prayer?

Members of the network are united by a shared prayer intention. Each month, the Laudato Si’ Movement shares this intention through a Monthly Prayer Guide, along with additional prayer needs connected to key moments such as natural disasters, the Season of Creation, or global processes like COPs.

Members are invited to integrate these intentions into their regular rhythm of prayer, whether personal or communal, including moments such as Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharistic adoration, etc.

At key moments throughout the year, the Laudato Si’ Movement also invites members to take part in global online moments of prayer.

What does it mean to become a member of the network?

By signing up, members make a simple but meaningful commitment to pray regularly for creation.

A WhatsApp group helps circulate special intentions and urgent prayer requests. Members may also submit prayer intentions, allowing the network to hold one another and the needs of creation in prayer.

LSM will create a map of the Creation Care Prayer Network showcasing registered communities, with links to their websites and/or social media profile, with previous consent.

Why pray?

Prayer lets us rediscover the world as a gift received from the Father’s love. It teaches us to receive creation with reverence—not domination—so we grow in humility, gratitude, and dependence on the Creator.

Through prayer, our ecological conversion deepens, grounding our care for the world in God.

Praying together strengthens our communion, unites our hearts, and sustains us in facing the challenges of the ecological crisis.

What role does contemplation play in ecological conversion?

Since the ecological crisis is also an internal crisis, prayer must shape how we see and inhabit the world from within. For this reason, the network gives special importance to contemplation to nurture ecological conversion and transform our relationship with creation.

Contemplation is a way of being from the heart that enables us to receive and respond to God’s love, helping us sustain our commitment to ecological and social justice. Through the practice of contemplation we learn to hear creation’s song with gratitude and awe, stay present to the Earth’s and the poor’s cry, and discern creation’s call to action.
