March 14, 2026 | Online

The Laudato Si’ Movement will host a global online Lenten Prayer Service, “Returning to the Heart of God and Creation,” on March 14, 2026, inviting people worldwide to enter a moment of contemplation, ecological mourning, and renewed commitment to care for our common home.
Held during the Christian season of Lent, the two-hour gathering will offer participants a quiet space for prayer and reflection in response to the ecological and climate crisis. The service is part of the movement’s Lenten campaign “Returning to the Heart,” which encourages believers to rediscover silence and interior conversion as the foundation for ecological action.
“Lent is not a season of despair — it is a season of transformation,” said Daniel Castellanos, Eco-conversion Programs Manager at the Laudato Si’ Movement. “It invites us to return to the heart — the place where God meets us, heals what has hardened, and sends us forth renewed.”
At the center of the service will be the “Bowl of Tears,” a contemplative space for public mourning and ecological reconciliation. During this symbolic practice, participants will name the grief they feel for the wounds of the Earth and the suffering of vulnerable communities. By offering these sorrows into a shared bowl, participants acknowledge both personal responsibility and collective hope.
The gathering will also mark the public relaunch of the Creation Care Prayer Network (CCPN) for 2026. The global network connects individuals and communities committed to praying for the healing of our common home through shared prayer intentions, coordinated prayer moments, and online contemplative spaces.
The online service will include reflections on contemplation and creation care, guided prayer sessions, the Bowl of Tears ritual, and moments of silent listening for God’s call in creation.
