Laudato Si’ Movement (LSM) continues to unite individuals, communities, and organizations around the idea of caring for our common home. This call for ecological conversion in Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’, inspires us and others to action. Like you, we are committed to lasting and meaningful change to protect our common home.
How can you contribute to that change? Participate in the Season of Creation, a time to deepen our collective commitment to ecological justice. As we look ahead to the upcoming Season of Creation, the time is now to create opportunities for awareness, action, and reflection.
Join Season of Creation
Here are 5 ways to incorporate the Season of Creation into your already planned events:
1. Host an Ecological Prayer Service or Liturgy
Prayer is the heart of the Season of Creation—and now, there’s a fresh and beautiful way to celebrate it! The new Mass for the Care of Creation invites us to lift our hearts in prayer for our common home. Feeling inspired? Take a cue from Pope Leo and bring your community outdoors for a Mass surrounded by the beauty of nature! It’s a joyful way to blend faith and action, and to spark hope for ecological conversion in others.
There’s even more good news: Starting September 7, 2025, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) will make it official—“Creation Day” will be celebrated in all parishes nationwide every first Sunday of September. Mark your calendar and get ready to pray, praise, and protect creation together!
2. Organize a Community Action Project
Ready to roll up your sleeves? From local clean-ups to tree planting, reaching out to legislators, or community gardening, there are endless opportunities to put your faith into action. Our New Hampshire US Chapter created a pollinator garden that became a turtle nursery! it is critical to educate individuals on the dangers of ignoring the science on this important issue. You could even include an educational project where participants learn about the challenges facing your local community.
In Paraguay, a “Grow What You Eat” initiative can inspire families to start home gardens, reconnecting with the land while learning about climate-smart agriculture and food sovereignty—all grounded in the spirit of Laudato Si’.
And remember, every action project can become a learning opportunity. Whether it’s a short reflection, a climate justice talk, or a community screening of “The Letter” followed by group discussion, these simple additions help deepen understanding and inspire long-term commitment to care for our common home.
3. Embark on a Pilgrimage for Creation
Step into action—literally! Pilgrimages are powerful ways to pray with our feet and show our commitment to caring for our common home. All across the United States, local groups are organizing Creation-centered pilgrimages, offering moments of reflection, connection, and public witness to ecological justice.
In the Philippines, Laudato Si’ Movement Pilipinas will host the 3rd Ecumenical Walk for Creation in Metro Manila, uniting faith communities in a joyful and prayerful journey. Meanwhile, in Korea, Laudato Si’ Korea is organizing an eye-opening exposure trip to the Samcheok Thermal Power Station, encouraging reflection on the impact of fossil fuels and the urgent need for a just transition.
Wherever you are, consider planning or joining a walk, hike, or pilgrimage rooted in prayer and action. Each step is a witness to hope—and a call to protect our planet.
4. Advocate for Justice: Turn Debt into Hope
This Season of Creation, Christians around the world are joining their voices in a powerful call: turn debt into hope.
As the climate crisis deepens, many low-income countries are burdened by crushing debt. While they face the worst impacts of climate change, these nations are still sending billions in debt repayments to wealthy lenders—funds that could instead support recovery, resilience, and care for our common home.
It’s time to speak out. Read more about this in the Celebration Guide for 2025
5. Let Us Know About Your Event
If you have already planned, or are in the process of planning, an event, we would like to share your ideas with others! Your event may inspire others to act. By sharing your events and engaging others, together we can strengthen the global movement to care for creation. Let’s make the Season of Creation an occasion to raise awareness about this important issue to build sustainable action.
