Global online program equips Catholics and people of goodwill to lead local climate and ecological action inspired by faith

The program responds to the urgent call of Pope Leo XIV to deepen ecological education and inspire new paths to safeguard creation. In a recent message to young people, the Holy Father emphasized that in the face of pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, global inequalities, and limited access to clean water and energy, ecological education is essential to reverse current trends and build a more just world.

He also highlighted that true change requires interior conversion, explaining that a transformation of habits and mentality is necessary to live in communion with creation. The Pope encouraged young people to become agents of change and hope, witnessing their faith in society through humility, service, and a deep relationship with Christ.

The Laudato Si’ Animators Training shapes grassroots leaders capable of promoting integral ecology, combining spirituality, scientific understanding, and leadership skills. Through weekly sessions, prayer, and collaborative learning, participants explore the ecological and social teachings of the Church and develop practical initiatives that respond to the environmental challenges facing their communities.

At a time when the world continues to face deep ecological, social, and spiritual crises, the program invites people of faith to deepen their commitment to caring for creation. Participants will learn about the connections between climate change, social justice, and human dignity, and how Catholic social teaching calls communities to respond with solidarity and hope.

Throughout the training, participants will discover how the message of Laudato Si’ relates to principles such as the common good, solidarity, and care for the most vulnerable, while also learning practical tools to organize local initiatives, mobilize communities, and advocate for ecological conversion.

A key component of the program is the development of a local action project. Participants who successfully complete the training and present their project will receive official certification as Laudato Si’ Animators, joining a global network of volunteers working to promote care for creation.

Since its launch in 2016, the Laudato Si’ Animators Training has become one of the most recognized faith-based environmental leadership programs in the world. More than 20,000 people have registered globally, with over 12,000 certified animators now active in more than 150 countries, supporting parishes, schools, dioceses, and community organizations in responding to the call to care for our common home.

Graduates of the program often go on to help establish local initiatives such as Laudato Si’ Circles, parish-based ecological ministries, educational programs, and community climate actions, strengthening a growing global movement for integral ecology.

Registration for the 2026 Laudato Si’ Animators Training is now open.
