Lent Is Not a Season of Despair — It Is a Season of Transformation

A return to the heart — that sacred place where God meets us, heals what has hardened, and sends us forth renewed.

This March 14, 2026, the Laudato Si’ Movement invites you into a profound global moment of contemplation:

🌿 Lenten Prayer Service: Returning to the Heart of God and Creation

The Bowl of Tears: Mourning as Prayer

At the center of our gathering we will share a profound experience: The Bowl of Tears.

This contemplative practice offers a space of public mourning and ecological reconciliation.

Together, we will:

  • Name the pain we feel for the wounds of our common home
  • Acknowledge the suffering of vulnerable communities
  • Recognize how comfort, selfishness, and unjust systems contribute to this crisis
  • Pour our grief into a shared bowl as an act of repentance and solidarity

When we pour our sorrow into the bowl, we realize we are not alone in our grief. When our tears become communal, mourning turns into hope.

Under divine compassion, we ask for the grace of inner conversion — to see the world from the perspective of the marginalized and to act for justice that is both social and ecological.

A New Chapter: Relaunch of the Creation Care Prayer Network

During this sacred time, we will also publicly relaunch the Creation Care Prayer Network (CCPN) for 2026.

The CCPN unites individuals and communities committed to praying for the healing of our common home. In this renewed season, the network will be strengthened through a shared global prayer intention, global prayer moments, and online contemplative spaces.

Because prayer is not passive. It roots activism in love, sustains courage, and forms hearts capable of long-term hope.

If you have ever longed to deepen your ecological commitment beyond action into contemplation, this is your invitation.

What Awaits You on March 14

In this online prayer moment we will reflect on the role of contemplation in caring for our common home, pray together with the Bowl of Tears, and pause in shared contemplation to hear God’s call in creation.

In a world marked by noise, speed, and fragmentation, we offer a slow and quiet moment. Contemplation can change the world, and it may change you.

Why You Should Come

Come if you feel overwhelmed by the climate crisis.
Come if you are tired but still hopeful.
Come if you are a Laudato Si’ Animator, a circle member, a religious sister or brother, a young leader, a parent, or simply someone who loves this Earth.

Come not because you have answers —
but because you desire conversion.

On March 14, let us return to the heart of God and creation.
And from that place — let us rise renewed, ready to care for our common home with deeper love and stronger hope.

Join us. The Spirit is calling us back to the heart.
