Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’s groundbreaking encyclical Laudato Si’ with the Prayer for Our Earth prayer card—a free resource from the Laudato Si’ Movement designed to inspire Christian action on the environmental crisis. Already distributed across Europe, this prayer card invites Catholics to join a spiritual movement for creation care by printing and sharing the message with their communities. Whether displayed in churches near the statue of Saint Francis or sent to friends and family, the Prayer for Our Earth offers a powerful way to pray for our planet and answer Pope Francis’s call to protect God’s creation from pollution and destruction.

The Prayer for Our Earth is one of the prayers offered at the end of the encyclical Laudato Si’, a text by Pope Francis that speaks to us about the socio-environmental crisis in which we live and what we are called to do as Christians.

Why a prayer card?

Many Catholics have not yet heard about the encyclical, while some of them are waiting for the Church to take action in response to this crisis. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’ and the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures, Laudato Si’ Movement Europe is offering this prayer card to help people discover this message.

The initiative has already gained significant support across Europe. Over 50 churches in France and Ireland have joined the campaign, spanning 22 French cities and towns and reaching across 12 Irish counties from Dublin to Cork, Galway, and beyond. The postcard has also been distributed in the Netherlands, in Poland, in the Czech Republic, in Germany and in the UK. A special coverage has also been registered in Italy, with the involvement of over 20 Circles and Dioceses. Ten thousand postcards are currently circulating in Europe.

This card is intended to be made available in churches, for anyone who enters to pray for a moment, light a candle, etc. If there is a statue of Saint Francis in your church, this is a good place to put this card. You can also announce the presence of this card with a poster.

Poster Example: The prayer for the earth is the prayer entrusted by Pope Francis in his encyclical letter Laudato Si’ (2015) about our common home.

You will find it near Saint Francis of Assisi. Take a moment to read it, meditate on it, and photograph it so that, like Saint Francis, you can pray with all creatures and for all of God’s creation, which has been damaged by pollution and destruction.

How can you get it?

The prayer card is ready to print, either as a prayer card or as a poster (the file resolution allows for this). You can download it here.

Suggested formats: 10 cm wide so it fits in an envelope and can be sent to a friend, or A4 or A3 size for display (contact [email protected] to get it).

This resource is free and brought to you by the Laudato Si’ Movement. Help us pray for our Earth together. Download the prayer card, print it, and invite others to join this spiritual movement for creation care. Then tag us on Facebook @MouvementLaudatoSi or send us a photo: we’d love to see your prayer cards in action and hear where they’re making a difference in your community.
