As the ecumenical family around the world prepares for a new Season of Creation, we at the Laudato Si’ Movement are also preparing to celebrate and act during this year’s annual Christian celebration, listening and responding together to the cry of Creation.
“Peace with Creation” is the theme for Season of Creation 2025, and the symbol is “Garden of peace”, which will inspire the prayers and actions from September 1 to October 4. To help prepare and live out this special time, we are excited to share the resources, activities, and calls to action to mobilize our LSM network:
- Celebrate Creation Day on September 1 or the first Sunday (Sept 7) — the perfect moment to honor the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Parishes and communities are encouraged to use the Vatican’s new “Creation Mass” in their Creation Day celebrations (see Vatican translations to 6 languages that can be used “ad experimentum” until the official texts are published by episcopal conferences). Any priest may celebrate this new Mass on September 1 (Monday). With the consent of the local bishop, it may also be celebrated on Sunday, September 7. An alternative could be September 6 (Saturday) during the day, also permissible to any priest.
- Pray the Via Creationis, with creation outdoors, to lift up the ongoing celebration of the mystery of creation
- Develop activities linked to the theme “garden of peace” such as engaging in a process to develop a garden
- Reflect and promote the message of Pope Leo XIV for the 10th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
- Organize and/or participate in pilgrimages of hope and peace
As part of the global ecumenical season, you are also invited to participate in the online ecumenical prayer services on September 1 and October 4, and to support the ecumenical global advocacy call to action for debt relief. You will find all the information on seasonofcreation.org and in the official ecumenical Celebration Guide available in the resources page of the same website.
