Every year the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) comes together with friends from around the world to honour the memory of John Main and his legacy of enriching and extending the teaching of Christian Meditation.

This year’s seminar’s theme is “The Challenge TO Democracy: The Challenge TO Democracy” and will be led by Herman Van Rompuy, former president of the European Council. Democracy is too important to leave just to politicians. It will take place in a responsive conversation with other meditators representing different ages and cultures in our community

Jane Mellett, Project Coordinator from Ireland, and Suzana Moreira, Coordinator of Eco-conversion Programs, will be speakers at the seminar, representing the Laudato Si’ Movement voice, in order to bring the perspective of climate justice and ecology to the discussion.

The Seminar will be held both online and in-person at the Bonnevaux Centre for Peace in France, from 17 to 20 November 2022. Laurence Freeman, WCCM Director, will lead a pre-seminar retreat from 14 to 17 November.

  2. Global rivals: the Cold War between Democracy and Despotism
  3. Defending and supporting democracy in times of rising populism
  4. Government of the People by the People for the People: what changes are needed?
