Events keep adding up worldwide, and this week we spotlight the national chapters in Latin America who are working hard to care for our common home during the Season of Creation 2022.
Let us share with you what is happening:
The Laudato Si animators of Tuluá, Colombia organized an Ecological Holy Hour presided by Friar Gustavo Ortiz OFM, accompanied by the parishioners. The presbytery was decorated with the image of St. Francis, with plants and animals representing the importance of caring for our common home.
The Escazú Agreement is a tool for the protection of the environment and human rights, which seeks to guarantee: Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America.
The Honduras Chapter took part in the organization of the International Forum “Honduras for Escazú”, advancing towards environmental justice by promoting the benefits of adhering to the Escazú Agreement.
Among the guests invited to the event was the Bishop in charge of the National Social Pastoral and of the National Integral Ecology Commission, Monsignor Guy Charboneau; the event was also attended by the Executive Director of Caritas Honduras, engineer Wilfredo Cervantes. Both were a great support during the event for the Laudato Si Honduras Movement.
In San Juan, Puerto Rico, there was a lovely virtual meeting of Reflection and Prayer for the Season of Creation, organized by the national chapter and transmitted through virtual platforms, where the readings from the Celebration Guide for the Season of Creation were shared.
Brazil, the Chapter of Rio Grande do Sul organized its first face-to-face retreat, with various reflections, moments of meditation and contemplation, as well as environmental immersion in nature, promoting interreligious dialogue between Laudato Si’ Animators, religious men and women, activists and religious leaders of Afro-Brazilian religions.
