In the December intention of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, Pope Francis calls us to pray for catechists, who have “an invaluable mission.” Their work is an authentic mission, a ministry at the service of the Church’s mission.

Laudato Si’ Animators are the catechists of the Laudato Si’ Movement, who serve in their communities by teaching, through the Gospel, the importance of caring for God’s creation.

“We need creative people who proclaim the Gospel […] with their life, with gentleness, with a new language, and opening new ways.

“We need good catechists, creative people who announce the Gospel, with their lives, with gentleness, with a new language and opening new paths,” the Pope said.

Today “evangelization is in the hands of catechists”, and in the hands of our Animators is the diffusion of Laudato Si’.

As the world undergoes many changes, Pope Francis is grateful for the enthusiasm of those baptized who, with continuous effort and joy, share the faith.

In addition, the Pope highlighted how it can be seen “in so many dioceses, in so many continents, evangelization is fundamentally in the hands of a catechist.” For this reason, he added, “We need good catechists who are both companions and teachers.”

Let us give thanks and pray together for them, who with their charism and enthusiasm, give their lives to the service of the Church and the care of our common home.
