Throughout the Season of Creation, we observed communities celebrating God as Creator through prayers, walks, and actions in defense of climate justice. We began by praying, rallied for a just energy transition, and concluded with prayer and thanksgiving.
The Holy Spirit accompanied our communities across the globe, which was reflected in the hundreds of events and celebrations we witnessed.
The voice of our leaders
Religious leaders, beginning with Pope Francis, spoke out in defense of our common home. Their voice gives us the indication that we are on the right path and fills us with energy to continue on our journey.
The Pope’s intention for the month of September and his Angelus for the World Day of Prayer for Creation led the way. Then, on his visit to Timor-Leste, Francis met with thousands of young people who showed him that “the seeds he planted in his encyclical Laudato Si’, on the care for our common home, are growing strongly.” Later, meeting with Popular Movements, he listened to the echoes of the Season of Creation, and tweeted his prayers throughout the Season.

Several bishops followed in his footsteps, speaking out with strong messages in favor of caring for our common home and inviting communities to follow more sustainable lifestyles. From the United Kingdom to the Congo, and from Australia to Peru, the prelates accompanied their parishioners in celebrating the Season of Creation.
Impactful and unforgettable events
Thousands of events around the world brought hope to local communities.
In Abuja, Nigeria, the Global Day of Action for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty was celebrated with a street rally to demand that religious leaders and the government take a bold step to address the climate crisis. An inspiring event that reflects ordinary people’s struggle for their rights.

In Paris, France, there was a high-level event with top Christian leaders. Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, said: “God saves us and saves creation, but what each of us can do, however small, we must do. Also present were Rev. Christian Krieger, president of the Protestant Federation, and Metropolitan Dimitrios, president of the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops.

A parish in the outskirts of Boston, United States, celebrated a mass on the occasion of the Season of Creation; an opportunity for spiritual reflection and a call to action to protect and care for our common home. The message of the liturgy was clear: caring for creation is not only a duty, it is an expression of faith.
