“We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all.” (LS 14)
This Saturday, October 29, the first Laudato Si’ Global Encounter will be held at 10 AM New York time; a meeting in which all members of the Laudato Si’ Movement are invited to participate.
The purpose of the meeting will be to talk about how we are building the future of the planet, and the challenges that lie ahead. There will be times of prayer and sharing, including testimonies from the work of different chapters of the movement.
What will the agenda of the meeting be like?
The opening prayer will be led by Dorismeire Vasconcelos, leader of the Laudato Si’ Circle in Brazil. Afterwards, Immaculata Tusingwire, Medical Mission Sister and Animator of Animators in Malawi, will lead the Scripture reading and there will also be a reading of Laudato Si’ by Ann Marie Brennan of the Christian Life Community, based in the United States.
In addition, Deacon Alirio Cáceres Aguirre, member of the World Council of Members from Colombia, will reflect on the readings; and Marianne Comfort, justice coordinator of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and co-chair of the World Council of Members of the Laudato Si’ Movement, will moderate the event.
Representatives from around the world will share their activities carried out during the Season of Creation: Salesian Sister Maria Lucia Siragusa, Animator of Animators in Italy; Silvia Alonso, from the Environmental Pastoral Team of the Diocese of San Isidro, Argentina; and John Din, National Coordinator of the Philippine Chapter.
