LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN ON THE ROAD TO “ACCELERATING THE JUST ENERGY TRANSITION” IN TERMS OF INTEGRAL ECOLOGY
“Let justice and peace flow.”
The Holy See participates as a Member State of the UN Climate Conferences (COPs) from 4 October 2022. The Social Doctrine of the Church calls for a collective ecological conversion that implies changes in international policies. This event is part of a series of Catholic advocacy actions for governments to make bold decisions related to climate change mitigation, just energy transition, and integral human development. The manifesto resulting from this event, together with others from Africa and Asia-Oceania, coordinated by the Laudato Si’ Movement together with other Church organizations, will form part of a Global Catholic Letter addressed to the Presidency of the upcoming COP 28 climate summit, under the inspiration of the Holy Father’s Message for the Season of Creation 2023.
