World Youth Day (WYD) is here! In this blog you will find all the information you need to know to follow closely the activities that Laudato Si’ Movement is carrying out in alliance with the friars of the JPIC Province.

From July 28 to August 6, the city of Lisbon, Portugal, will be dressed in colorful flags and thousands of young people will populate its streets. This meeting of young Catholics with Pope Francis is an invitation to all. Even if you are not in Lisbon, we want to invite you to enter into WYD mode, accompanying the thousands of young people from around the world with your prayer. The motto that accompanies this universal meeting is: “Mary arose and went with haste” (Lk 1:39).

To take the spirit of Laudato Si’ to the hearts of young people and the Church, we will carry out the following activities:

  • July 31: 4th International Conference on the Care of Creation
It will be held at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, organized as a meeting between the young participants and experts who will offer reflections on 5 areas of life. The complete program is here.
  • Stand at the Vocational Fair within the City of Joy
We will share information on how to be part of the movement and take care of our common home. We look forward to seeing you from Tuesday August 1st to Friday August 4th from 9am.
  • Prayers and Eucharist at St. Anthony’s Church
From Tuesday, August 1 to Saturday, August 5, we will unite in prayer and celebration of the Eucharist. There will be masses in Portuguese, Spanish, English and Italian, and multilingual prayers. Check the schedule here
  • August 2: 4th Edition of the Serata Laudato Si’.
An unforgettable evening filled with art, culture and music, promoted by the General Office for JPIC of the Order of Friars Minor, where we will celebrate the inspirational message of Laudato Si’.

In addition, pilgrims will be encouraged to take on environmental commitments, seeking balance among all beings in our Common Home.
